There is so much more to web site design than attractive presentation of content.
... which is not to say it isn't important.
It is.
It makes big difference to conversion levels: to converting visitors to enquirers and purchasers... to customers.
But design also affects usability: the ease with which visitors can find the information they are looking for.
And it affects the ability of search engines to analyse your content, affecting whether you show up in search results.
When we design sites, we juggle asthetics with client objectives, visitor behaviour patterns, usability, search engine optimisation, and technical issues such as flexibility to cater for likely future requirements, differing visitor screen sizes and browsers, etc.
The result is a lot more than a pretty online brochure. It's a machine that helps to attract visitors and then convert them to customers.
JP's signature style is carried through all of his work. Whether it be food, still life or packaging, each image individually demonstrates the beautiful lighting and simplistic approach he is well known for.
JP's site reflects this difference. Most photographer sites showcase their work against a black or very dark background. JP wanted his site to reflect his style and the atmosphere of his studio.
The site features Binary Business's active photo gallery. Site visitors roll over a small 'thumbnail' image to see a full sized shot.
